Hawk Spotlight: Brianna Frissora on Title Wave

Have you ever thought about reading your own literary work to an audience? At Heart Fest 2026, Title Wave—a student-run literary magazine featuring work from RWU students—invites you to do just that. The readings will take place from 4:00-5:00 p.m. on April 23rd in the Mary Tefft White Room at the university library.

There will be 15 slots available for students to read their original work—whether it be fiction, nonfiction, or poetry—for 3 minutes each. Creative writing Major and editor of the magazine, Brianna Frissora, encourages more people to sign up. She says, “It would be nice to see other people besides Creative Writing and English majors” sharing their work or attending as listeners.

If you’re unable to attend the reading, you can always submit your work to Title Wave, which features work exclusively from RWU students. Each semester, there are a handful of winners selected by the student editorial team to be featured in the magazine. According to Frissora, the magazine not only highlights student talent but also brings students together. “It brings all of the English and Creative Writing people together instead of everybody focusing on their own work and individual pieces,” she explained.

Frissora is also a co-managing editor for the Mount Hope Literary Magazine, which is a separate publication that features writers from all over the world. Her role involves “reading submissions, rating them, and trying to pick a piece to publish each month online.”

Ultimately, Frissora hopes that this event will shed some light on a part of the university that often goes unnoticed. “I feel like the humanities are a little hidden,” she said. “I’m excited for this event because it’s going to make people more interested in what we’re doing.”

Students interested in reading at the Heart Fest event can sign up through the magazine’s social media or campus announcements.
